Top 10 tattoo regrets
10. Fairy
90’s sensation Britney Spears has a fairy tattoo, as does The World Is Not Enough star Denise Richards. to this study, it turns out for some, fairies aren’t always so magical.
9. Signs Of The Zodiac
R&B star Rihanna and heroes star Hayden Panettiere both have signs of the zodiac tattoos. Did the horoscopes predict regret for the owners of these mystical tattoos?
8. Celtic Designs
Canadian actor Jay Baruchel has a large Celtic cross design on his arm, as does singer, songwriter and actor Justin Timberlake and gorgeous Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine. It looks like the luck of the Irish doesn’t prevent lots of people regretting their own Celtic tattoo designs.
7. Chinese Symbols
David Beckham has them, Megan Fox has them, Justin Bieber has them and Britney Spears has them. They can often be mistaken for something else and are notorious for meaning something different to what the owner thought they meant, for example; Britneys Chinese symbol on her hip was meant to say ‘mysterious’ but it means ‘strange’. They were a huge tattoo fad in the 90’s, but the fad is most definitely over for many owners of Chinese symbol tattoo designs with them being the seventh most regrettable tattoo designs in this study.
6. Butterfly
Mariah Carey has one, Vanessa Hudgens has one as does Paris Hilton and Kelly Osbourne, but these pretty insects don’t stay pretty for long according to our study, with them being the sixth most regrettable tattoo design in the study.
5. Stars
Stars became fashionable after super star Rihanna had stars tattooed on her back and behind her ear. Jessica Alba, Avril Lavigne and Sienna Miller also all have star tattoos. But at 5th most in the study, many owners of star tattoos are upon them to go away.
4. Barbed Wire
Pamela Anderson was most definitely the creator of this 1990’s tattoo fad, with Cheryl Fernandez Versini paying homage to the design incorporating it with a rose on her thigh. Sadly, as the 4th most regrettable design in the study, it most definitely didn’t keep plenty of barbed wire tattoo owner’s feeling like Baywatch Babes for long.
3. A Quote Misspelled From A Different Language
Unfortunately, this tattoo issue is extremely common, and usually only gets discovered after the tattoo has been completed. The most famous case of this happening is with David Beckham who had a Sanskrit tribute to his wife Victoria on his arm, only to find Victoria had been spelt ‘Vihctoria’ – proof this kind of tattoo regret can happen to absolutely anyone.
2. Dolphin
Another 90’s fad, dolphins adorned the shoulders, feet, hips and various other places on skin in the 90’s, but more than a decade later, plenty of tattoo owners want their marine life art, well and truly released back into the wild.
1. Ex Partner’s Name

A Premier Laser Clinic spokesperson said:
“When your personal life is a volatile as Katie Price’s it is perhaps not the wisest move to have your husband’s name tattooed on your arm. We have had celebrities in our London clinics quietly erasing tattoos of former lovers made in haste. Without a doubt, the most common tattoo that we remove at Premier Laser Clinic is an ex-partner’s name – we would advise people to think long and carefully before inking their lover’s name onto their skin!.
If you do make a mistake and regret having your tattoo whether it’s and exes name or a baby unicorn!, it has never been easier to remove an unwanted tattoo and we can leave the skin looking almost brand new.The procedure is quick and pain-free.”
