Under eye wrinkles
Causes and treatment
Causes of under eye wrinkles
Fine lines and wrinkles under the eyes are the physical signs of aged skin and are inevitable symptoms of the ageing . Under eye wrinkles occur when the skin around the eyes becomes thinner and loses elasticity which can be accelerated by frequent sun exposure, smoking, repeated facial movements and genetic traits.
There are two types of under eye wrinkles called dynamic and static lines. Dynamic lines are wrinkles caused by muscle movement and static lines are the lines that are present when the muscles are not contracted.
The primary cause of under eye wrinkles is depleted levels of collagen found in the dermis layer of skin which is lost throughout the years. Collagen is fundamental in supporting the facial structure and responsible for the skin youthful, where a diminished quantity can cause the skin around the eyes to depress, creating lines and wrinkles that become more visible over time.
Symptoms
How to get rid of under eye wrinkles?
Injectable treatments are quick and popular procedures that reduce wrinkles without the of surgery. During an under eye treatment, you can expect your practitioner to administer a small amount of natural solution (such as hyaluronic acid) into the skin to improve the appearance of the eye area, promote firmness and deliver a more youthful structure.
Injectables
BOTOX® is another affordable, accessible cosmetic procedure – and like all our injectable treatments – it is FDA approved and administered within the highest clinical practices by qualified practitioners, in safe and sterile environments.
BOTOX® helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, smile lines and dynamic, more pronounced folds. It works to relax overactive muscles around the eye area and restores a younger, fresher look.
Dermal fillers
Dermal fillers can help to restore volume, lift, redefine and lighten the under eye area. There are many types of dermal fillers which may be more effective in treating different skin concerns.
This treatment has mostly plumping, volume restoring properties and can work effectively in treating any gaunt, darkened under eyes, refreshing the eye area and fine lines. All dermal filler treatments use which has patented technology for seamless, natural results.
Tear trough fillers
This is a rejuvenating, collagen boosting treatment that has significant powers in reducing under eye hollowness, dark circles and wrinkles. It works to reverse the effects of ageing by stimulating collagen production to leave you with a renewed glow around your eye area.
Sculptra™
Sculptra™ treatment is another anti-aging injectable treatment that works to replace lost collagen and prevent future depletion of skin elasticity around the under eyes.
Poly-L-Lactic acid is the primary ingredient in Sculptra™ and it is an absorbable and FDA-approved filler to help any depleted, depressed skin. It can help brighten the whole face area.
Profhilo®
A revitalising anti-ageing treatment that helps to replenish hyaluronic acid into the skin. Profhilo® works to defy the ageing process and replace any hyaluronic acid lost throughout the years.
It works to treat the whole face, naturally creating a ‘lift’ across your whole complexion. It helps to smoothen mouth lines and folds in the cheeks and mouth, redefine your side profile and skin around the neck also.
Microneedling
This treatment is also known as a collagen induction therapy which fine, tiny holes in the skin to encourage skin cell renewal and stimulate the body’s natural healing response.
When this response is activated, collagen and elastin (two proteins that are in warding off wrinkles) are produced to create an immediate brighter, younger look. This treatment is also effective in reducing scarring, evening any pigmentation and UV ray exposure. This would be a good option to treat concerns in one treatment.

How long will it take to see results?
With most injectable treatments, HydraFacials, and skin peels, results can be seen immediately, where the eye appears brighter and with a significant in wrinkles. To see the full effect of a treatment, it may take around seven days.

Prevention
Taking preventative measures is the most important step in delaying and reducing the visible signs of ageing. Some ways to take preventative action is to omit detrimental lifestyle factors such as smoking and excessive drinking and committing to a vigilant, anti-ageing skin routine.
Skin care products, such as eye creams and serums containing retinoids, SPF, hyaluronic acid, vitamins C and E, caffeine and alpha-hydroxy acids, may help to delay the early signs of wrinkles and lines under your eye. Although a skin care routine provides long term, consistent protection, results may not be instantaneous. Home remedies can too, only go so far to prevent fine lines.
By combining a strong skin regime with one of our preventative treatments as regularly as you can, you’ll have the right tools for combating the signs of ageing early on. Some of our preventative treatments are:
HydraFacial
HydraFacial is a deeply cleansing and detoxifying facial that instantly restores a radiant complexion. It incorporates active botanical ingredients to the skin and works as an anti-ageing and protecting treatment. It is the least invasive treatment for reducing unwanted static lines without injectables.
For treating the undereye area, the two most effective facials would be HydraFacial sk:n signature treatment (for boosting collagen) and dermabuilder treatment (includes an anti-ageing serum).
Skin peels
Chemical peels, which refers to the clinical grade of natural solutions used, are exfoliating and renewing facial treatments that stimulate collagen production.
They work to help brighten dull and tired skin, skin tone and reduce the appearance of fine lines and static wrinkles. After one peel, you can see immediate results with your complexion becoming visibly brighter, softer and youthful.
At sk:n we offer a range of treatments to reduce both types of wrinkles that have restorative, rejuvenating qualities and all encourage a more youthful appearance. Click to see best procedures for under eye wrinkles.
